Northern Courts Sport Precinct

Description:

Koppens Developments were awarded a project in wake of the addition government funding from the 2018 Commonwealth Games. This Project included: the construction of the Northern Court Sport Precinct that consists of upgrading the existing volleyball courts, construction of additional volleyball courts, multigoal unit, and hardstand. This facelift would allow Cairns residence and visitors the chance to utilise top grade equipment in Tropical Cairns.

Scope:

The scope of works involved included:

• Augmentation of the existing beach volleyball courts to bring these up to tournament standard and incorporate space allocation for future installation of removable/temporary grandstand seating;
• New hardstand area for service facilities during tournaments;
• Widened pathways and temporary heavy vehicle access paths;
• Two new beach volleyball tournament courts;
• One new beach volleyball warm-up court;
• One new Multigoal court
• Hardstand area for a temporary/removal amenities block or portable toilets;
• Water service and sanitary drainage connection point(s) for a temporary/removal amenities block or portable toilets;
• Pathways, hardstand and landscaping adjoining the new courts
• Electrical upgrades including installation of new court lighting; and
• Irrigation connections
